Self-care can be simple. It can be sustainable. It can also make a huge difference in our overall health and wellness. How are you choosing to show your body, mind and soul appreciation today?
Here are just a few of my favorite ways to nourish my body, mind & soul:
5 Simple, Yet Effective Ways to Show Your Body Some Love Today:
1) Eat nourishing whole foods.
Key words I look for when shopping for foods include: "organic", "in-season", "local", "grassfed", "pasture-raised", "regenerative farm", "wild-caught". Check out my blog post titled "Mindful Shopping, Mindful Living" to go a bit more in depth on why I look for these key words as well as other simple swaps you can make in your grocery shopping. Nourishing our bodies from the inside out can be one of the most effective ways to show our body deep appreciation and care. How are you choosing to nourish your body today?
2) Engage in intentional movement.
A simple walk, yoga, stretching, or your favorite workout. Intentional movement does not have to be intense or daunting. It can be very simple. I like to ask myself, what does my body need today? What will best serve my body in allowing me to feel more grounded, more connected and more uplifted? Some days this looks like a simple walk in nature for me. Other days its a gentle bike ride through town or a sunset stretching session. What sort of movement resonates with your body today?
3) Write a gratitude list.
Even if you just take 5 minutes, grab a pen and paper and simply jot down a handful of things you are grateful for today. After writing your list, read it aloud to yourself. There is something empowering about reading out loud our thoughts and really speaking them into existence. The more gratitude we have, the better attitude we have. Sometimes life gets so hectic and stressful that I forget to pause, reflect and rejoice in all the things I have to be grateful for. What are you grateful for in this moment? I've made this lil' daily gratitudes guide to help you get your thoughts flowing :)
4) Spend time in your favorite restful activity.
A bath, a leisuirely walk with your dogs or a close friend, an intentional cup of coffee or tea. What are you doing today that is restful for you and allowing you to slow down in the every day mundane? Its in the small moments, we find our peace.
5) Set your intentions for the season ahead.
Write down or make a Pinterest a board of what you hope to accomplish in this season ahead. What are your driving factors? The leaves are changing in this season and I like to think of that as great symbolism for our lives changing, growing and moulding as well. How do you want to appraoch the season of change? What are you hopeful for? What are your greatest desires? Afterall, hope can carry us a long way.
I hope these simple steps allow you to step into your day feeling a little more grounded, a little more hopeful and a little more cared for in who you are, what you are doing and who you are set out to be.
